Flat A. Visits Iraq

I visited Iraq with Mr. Gaskill. He is not a regular soldier. He works in the forensics lab, like on CSI. He has a lot of equipment to do his job. Some of it is kinda scary.
I am standing on a bridge that got bombed. It probably used to be a really strong bridge. This is all that is left.
This soldier has the same name as me!
This is a special house that Saddam Hussein built when he was in charge. That was a long time ago. He is not in charge anymore because he hurt a lot of people.
I am Camp Victory. It is an army base where lots of soldiers live and work. It is so pretty here at night. The sky here looks the same as the sky in Las Vegas. Maybe it is because they are both in the desert.
This is a Mosque. That is where Muslim people go for church. I wonder if we have a Mosque in Las Vegas.
This is my friend, Manny the Bear. He kept me company in Iraq.
This is called the Victory Over America Palace. I bet Saddam Hussein built this when he thought he was going to win the war.
All of my friends on base came to say goodbye before I left to go home. The people at Camp Victory work really hard. I hope they can all go home to their families soon when the war is over.

Visiting Peru with Flat L.!

I was supposed to go to Arizona, but my host, Mr. Hamilton, took me to Peru instead! We had lots of adventures!

Here I am, camping in the Andes Mountains. It's really high up here and the air is thin. We had to carry all of our camping gear up here ourselves. Sometimes people use llamas to carry their stuff. Too bad we couldn't hire a llama.
It's really foggy up here. Actually, we are so high up in the mountains that this fog might really be a cloud. If you look close, you might see Machu Picchu. Machu Picchu is an old city built during the Inca Empire. It is almost 600 years old! Inca people used to live here, but they all died out, probably from small pox.
Here is the beach in Peru. Look at the water! It's crystal blue. It's much clearer than the water in Lake Mead, here in Las Vegas.
Here I am on top of a cliff! I hope I don't fall down!
I'm in the town square at a city here in Peru. What a cool fountain! It's smaller than the Bellagio fountains in Las Vegas, though. I had a super time in Peru! I am so glad Mr. Hamilton came to Peru!

Flat P's trip to Savannah, Georgia

I visited Savannah, Georgia. My host was Mr. Reynolds. He used to be an art teacher in Las Vegas, but now he is a comic book artist. We did lots of fun things here in Georgia.

Many people say that Savannah is haunted. What do you think? Don't worry. This isn't a real ghost. It's just Mr. Reynolds trying to scare me.
Uh oh! It's the police! It's a good thing I've been behaving! This police car looks very old. I think it might just be there for decoration.
One of Mr. Reynolds' friends is drawing a picture of me.
Mr. Reynolds is a comic book artist. He is giving me an art lesson! He even gave me a paint brush so I could help him work.
Before I went home to Las Vegas, I took a boat tour.
What a gorgeous view! I had so much fun in Savannah. Thank you for hosting me, Mr. Reynolds!

Flat A.'s China Adventure!

Here I am in China! I'm riding the train from the airport. It's a good thing I'm flat because this train is crowded!
This is Mrs. Robinson and her husband on the train in China. I am so glad they brought me along!
While I am in China, I can use this payphone to call my family and friends. Look closely... the instructions are written in Chinese, but the numbers are the same as in English!
I am visiting West Lake. It was beautiful and peaceful.

I am so excited to visit a school in China! Their school is on the bottom two floors of this apartment building.
The playground at this school in China looks an awful lot like our playground here in Las Vegas! I wonder if they have graffiti on their playground like we do. Would the graffiti be in English or Chinese or maybe some other language?
Here is the kindergarten teacher. She welcomed me to class!
These kindergarteners have sleeping cots stacked in their classroom. I wish I could take a nap sometimes!
These kids in China make the "peace sign" just like we do in America!
This is me with Mrs. Robinson's nephew.
The kids in China are learning to read, do math, and write stories just like we are!
I had so much fun visiting with this class! I love China and I hope I can visit there for real someday.

R. visited Hawaii with Ms. Boring and had a great time! She learned all about banyan trees, surfing, and Hawaiian leis! She also spent some time on the beach. What a fantastic trip!

Look at all of these tracks! It looks like a rabbit and a kangaroo rat are here. I wonder what other animals are here!

I had a great time fishing with the Gaskill family. Wow! Look what we caught!

I learned about the Golden Spike that connected the first transcontinental railroad in 1869. They didn't have cars or trucks back then, so the railroad was really the only way they could quickly transport people and goods across the country. I can't imagine a world without cars! While I was at the museum, I even got to see a replica of the real golden spike!
